![]() For instance, I did a quick draft and saw flourishing fox as low rated from the untapped.gg plugin, when it's one of the top 3 cards you want in a cycling deck.įor that, I would check out r/lrcast/ for a subreddit focused around limited (limited resources' podcast reddit). ![]() I think this is usually a lot better now post set release than when a lot of the pick order stuff comes (which is usually a guess based on the released cards but before drafting). The biggest thing in general is just getting other, more experienced people's view on a thing. Some of my easiest 7-x runs have been from decks packing enough removal to ensure late game, especially when cards like Lore Drakkis, Boneyard Lurker, and Rooting Moloch can allow you to multiply your removal even further. Everyone is already aware of Boros cycling as a draft archetype, but there's also the WB go-wide list that utilizes a lot of low-curve commons and uncommons to punish slower mutate decks.įinally, there are very few uncommon/common creatures that hold a higher draft priority than removal. This is largely due to all of the alternate casting costs, as well as the cycle mechanic.īoth the cycling and the mutate mechanics lead towards snowbally game states (huge creature that can't die through combat, or gains massive advantage through mutate effects, or cycling decks beating you up with cheap creatures and massive non-combat damage), so it's hugely important that you aren't the player forced to "take a turn off" because you only have a few cards that interact at 1 or 2 cmc. ![]() To add to this - Ikoria is a format that can really reward decks that pay attention to their mana curve.
